In the winter of 2023, this work was the first where I touched upon this newfound freedom of mine. The first central three-dimensional element happened by chance – I was shooting a video in the studio, I needed to cover the work with something transparent and pour acrylic into it. Plexiglass was at hand. I liked how the paint settled and decided to let it dry.

A note about the technique of liquid acrylic used in this work – the technique involves making solutions quite accurately, I use scales for mixing and then always test what I’ve achieved. All ingredients need to be mixed thoroughly and carefully for a long time, and this process does not tolerate haste and chaos.

But then, a couple of weeks after the first episode with the plexiglass, when I was simply mixing acrylic for creating a video, I obtained a color that, upon seeing it, I understood – it had to be on this plexiglass, around this spot. Very quickly, without thinking, without weighing, hardly stirring, almost by intuition, I prepared all the solutions and poured them onto the canvas. I felt a sense of flight. It was as if I looked beyond all the rules and boundaries. And it was wonderful.
